Position Description:
The General Dynamics Land Systems Intern Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals.
The Indirect Procurement Internship offers practical work experience in a wide range of procurement disciplines, including:
- Solicitation and preparation of Request for Quotes (RFQ's)
- Cost/Price analysis of quotes
- Proposal negotiations, including cost, lead time, and terms and conditions
- Purchase Order preparation, placement and continued administration/monitoring to assure subcontractor compliance
- Administer purchase orders, control costs, and assure on-time delivery to support program requirements
- Serve as the focal point between the suppliers and GDLS functional departments/program offices
- Manage quality, design, and payment issues with subcontractors
- Ensure GDLS compliance with applicable procurement laws and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Currently attending a university or college and enrolled in an undergraduate Supply Chain Management/Logistics or Business program
- Be at least 18 years old at the start of the internship.
- Be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is preferred
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Have the ability to complete a minimum of a three month assignment and work full time for the duration
- Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with direction from others
- Ability to use Oracle system & associated computer systems
- Strong communication (oral & written) and problem solving skills
- Work in a team environment to meet team objectives and performance metrics
- Perform under pressure to meet deadlines, provide timely updates, and communicate status with all parties involved
- Ability to multi-task and proper management of work day and buying deck
