Reporting administratively to the Herma Heart Echocardiography Technician Supervisor, and under the technical direction of a cardiologist performs non invasive cardiac studies according to procedures. Operates echocardiograph diagnostic equipment and maintains echocardiographic laboratory.

Requirements

  • Job knowledge acquired through a high school education plus two years of advanced education in chocardiography.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
  • Previous echocardiographic experience in a pediatric setting would be desirable. Requires registration as a Pediatric ECHO Tech within 2 years of date of hire, if not prior to hire.
  • Analytical skills required to perform basic diagnostic echocardiograph studies, which demonstrate underlying cardiac pathology to cardiologists who interpret results. These skills will be expected to progress within 2 years of hire to include identification of all congenital heart disease anatomy.
  • Attention to detail is essential in order to avoid danger to patients.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with physicians, families, patients and students.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation form children in order to complete studies is desired.
