Job Summary: Generac's Operations Intern position is responsible to work in a team environment to accomplish project-based work in the operations group. Under supervision of the production manager, the intern will create project plans and execute in a cross functional environment. You will also contribute to safety, quality, and operational performance by joining existing teams and other tasks as assigned. Participants develop technical skills through challenging assignments and leadership development through collaborative teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership and production associates to improve work areas.
  • Perform time studies of various operations to create process improvements.
  • Learn the company ERP system (SAP) to facilitate improvement projects and data analysis.
  • Generate reports, and presentations reflective of project-based work
  • Support production scheduling functions between departments.
  • Assist operations in safety, quality, delivery, and cost related process improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a BS degree (preferably in Business Management, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering).
  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel).
  • Proficient oral and written communication and able to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across.
  • The ability to work 15-20 hours during the school year and full-time during school breaks.

  • At this level, learns how to apply principles and theories in a practical manner.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
