Senior Transportation Designer - Wisconsin

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is looking to expand our services in the state of Wisconsin, and we are recruiting for a Senior Designer to join our transportation service team. In Wisconsin, we have offices in Appleton and Madison but are open to expanding our team in other areas of the state. Our ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of roadway design experience supporting public sector projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work as a key member of a roadway design team under the direction of various project engineers/managers. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

    Work with a team in the preparation of plans and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
  • Lead the preparation of various roadway design elements using local (state, county or city) and/or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments; plan and profile; utility design and relocation; streetscape and roadway improvements; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; signing, striping, and signalization.
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Produce high-quality work and perform quality assurance checks
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and support services
  • Identify applicable codes, standards, or other design requirements
  • Supervise the work of less experienced technical support personnel
  • Mentor and train technical support personnel
  • Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies, and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
  • Lead by example - display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
Required Experience
  • 10+ years experience in roadway design
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Technical degree or certification in Autodesk Civil3D
  • Expert in Autodesk Civil3D and Bluebeam
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet project deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
