Overview

In this role, the Mechanical Consultant will work with a team of engineers who are designing mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-unit residential facilities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform existing conditions as-built documentation of mechanical system including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems.
  • AutoCAD MEP; REVIT drawing of mechanical system including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems.
  • Lead design teams with Mechanical Systems design/layout tasks for commercial and residential projects.
  • Coordination with other Engineering Team Members.
  • Perform final inspections on installations.
  • Heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Mechanical equipment sizing and selection.

Required Education and Certifications

  • 4-8 years' experience with mechanical systems design/installation
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • E.I.T or P.E. preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Documented experience with Mechanical and Plumbing design, fire suppression systems, fuel distribution, residential and commercial HVAC principles, energy code compliance, and building controls systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office of products including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills and comfort interacting with diverse teams.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to spatially recognize 3D systems transferred to a 2D set of documents (plans).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines while also balancing the needs of multiple projects.
  • Self-starting work ethic to sustain an effective work environment.

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Work is performed primarily in an office setting for design support tasks and in the field for documenting existing conditions. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, crouch, hear, and talk (must be able to speak and communicate clearly with employees). Employee may climb a ladder/staging or lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
