SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Human Resources Intern duties include but are not limited to assisting with various human resources tasks and assignments such as recruitment, hiring, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and human resources administration and record keeping. Work is performed under the direction of the Human Resources Manager who makes assignments, provides guidance, and reviews work to ensure that it is completed according to instructions and in accordance with accepted policies, procedures, and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the preparation of recruiting presentations and job descriptions and help with job posting coordination.
  • Assist with tracking and documenting applicants, reviewing resumes,scheduling interviews, and performing reference and background checks.
  • Assist with the review of new hire paperwork.
  • Assist with the communication of human resources policies, programs,practices, and laws and regulations.
  • Assist with employee development, key performance indicators, andperformance evaluation.
  • Assist with employee engagement.
  • Assist with operation of group benefit programs (health, dental, short-termand long-term disability, life insurance and retirement plans, etc.).
  • Assist with the coordination of employee benefits processing including enrollments, changes, terminations, beneficiaries, disability cases/claims,rollovers, distributions loans, and compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and update of hiring, employment eligibility, promotion, transfer, termination, and otheremployment or benefit records.
  • Assist with the maintenance and update of the Employee Handbook.
YOU WILL NEED
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal human resources laws, policiesand procedures, best practices, and their application in the day-to-dayworking environment.
  • High-level proficiency in computer assisted office software andequipment.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Good attention to detail, problem-solving, and organization skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Enrollment in a bachelor's degree or master's degree program in business administration or other related field with a focus on human resources from an accredited four-year university.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY
