POSITION SUMMARY:

The Event Strategist is a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, responsible for helping Milliman maximize the impact and enhance the value of our internal and external events. Combining a strong creative vision, excellent marketing skills, and extensive experience planning and executing successful events, this person will collaborate with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders to elevate the quality of high-impact client events, multi-day internal forums, webinars, and sponsored events and tradeshows. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic planning abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, marketing savvy, and the confidence to lead discussions with senior leaders, including the C-suite.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceive and oversee event strategy from inception to assessment to drive brand awareness, thought leadership, and sales.
  • Define the goals of each event component, advise on the budget and timelines, and oversee vendors and partners to maximize engagement and value.
  • Design, create, and execute comprehensive event strategies that align with Milliman's brand and mission, drive engagement, and inform decision-making at every phase of the event lifecycle.
  • Assist the marketing team in creating and implementing event marketing plans designed to engage audiences, generate leads, and elevate the Milliman brand.
  • Define the KPIs against which success of each event will be measured, report back to stakeholders, and incorporate learnings into future event strategies.
  • Work with marketing team to ensure that leads are effectively captured and reported back to event stakeholders.
  • Ensure metrics for internal events are captured, analyzed, and turned into actionable reports.
  • Create an event strategy playbook that establishes best practices for both internal and external events.
  • Develop a repeatable reporting process for providing post-event assessments to key stakeholders.
  • Lead sponsorship negotiations, buying, and contracting for external events.
  • Write quarterly event updates for the Milliman C-suite and Board of Directors.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and innovations.
  • Develop extensive understanding of Milliman's business and competitive environment and apply that knowledge in identifying events, conferences, trade shows, and other opportunities to interact with prospects and promote the brand.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, business, marketing, or related field.
  • The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of experience working on events or marketing strategy.
  • The ideal candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of event planning and strategy, including contracting, negotiating, analytics, event technology platforms, and digital marketing.
  • The ideal candidate must have experience with a variety of event mediums (sponsorships, virtual and in-person meetings, webinars, and client events).
  • The ideal candidate must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Must be organized, strong attention to detail, and the highest standards or service-delivery and audience/participant engagement.
  • Must have excellent judgement, and creative problem-solving skills, including contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and contingency planning.
  • Must have previous experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional global organization.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Must have experience with project management tools, Microsoft Dynamics, Cvent, and virtual event platforms.
  • Must be willing to travel 20-30%.

LOCATION:

This is a remote role. The expected application deadline for this job is June 30th, 2024

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this role is $72,000 to $142,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
